肠道微生物组影响代谢综合征(MetS)和炎症,并且在治疗上是可修饰的。动脉硬化与大多数传统危险因素相关性很低。近日,心血管领域权威杂志Eur Heart J上发表了一篇研究文章,研究人员的目标是评估肠道微生物组成是否与动脉硬化有关。
研究人员评估了来自TwinsUK队列的具有血清代谢组学数据的617名中年女性的颈动脉-股动脉脉搏波速度(PWV)(一种测量动脉硬化衡量指标)与肠道微生物组成成分之间的相关性。
在调整协变量后,研究人员发现脉搏波速度与肠微生物组α多样性(Shannon指数,Beta(SE)=-0.25(0.07),P=1×10-4)呈负相关。在调整了协变量和多项检测2个属于Ruminococcaceae家族的变量后,发现七个操作分类单位与PWV相关。调整肠源性代谢物(吲哚丙酸、三甲胺氧化物和苯乙酰谷氨酰胺)水平后,微生物丰度、微生物多样性和PWV之间的关联仍然显著。研究人员将PWV相关的肠道微生物组来源的变量进行线性组合,发现微生物组因子解释了8.3%(95%置信区间4.3-12.4%)的PWV差异。正式的调解分析显示,调整年龄、体重指数和平均动脉压后,肠道微生物群对PWV的总效应只有很小比例(5.51%)由胰岛素抵抗和内脏脂肪、c-反应蛋白和心血管危险因素所介导。
