NATURE:不够高?你可能有FBN1错义变异体

就williamhill asia 所知,这是已知的常见身高相关变异体中具有最大效应的基因突变。

平均而言,秘鲁人是世界上身高最矮的人之一。

最近,研究人员表明,美洲原住民血统与秘鲁人种群中的身高降低有关,并在FBN1基因中鉴定出一个与身高降低显著相关的人群特异性的错义变异体(E1297G)。

该罕见等位基因的每一个拷贝(频率为4.7%)都会使身高降低2.2厘米(纯合个体身高降低为4.4厘米)。

就williamhill asia 所知,这是已知的常见身高相关变异体中具有最大效应的基因突变。

FBN1编码细胞外基质蛋白纤维素1,它是微纤维素的主要结构成分。研究人员观察到,与E1297纯合的个体相比,G1297纯合的个体皮肤中富含纤维蛋白1的微纤维蛋白密度较低,边缘不规则。

此外,研究人员表明,E1297G位点在非非洲人种群中处于阳性选择状态,而E1297变异体在秘鲁人种群中显示出微妙的阳性选择证据。

该变体在秘鲁沿海种群中的频率也明显高于安第斯山脉或亚马逊地区的种群,这表明身材矮小可能是适应秘鲁沿海环境相关因素的结果。
